Spectra Red Light Bed
Spectra red light bed is a medical grade light therapy technology that utilizes a variety of different wavelengths between 415-660nm in the visible blue, green, amber, and red spectrum, and near infrared wavelengths ranging from 810-980nm. Thermal wavelengths are 910-980nm.
Both the 660-680 and 810-880 nm wavelengths interact with the fourth complex of the electron transport chain in the mitochondria. This complex contains an enzyme (Cytochrome C oxidase) that functions as a chromophore (light gathering) because it contains a copper molecule, and transmutes light energy into ATP, the energy used in the human body. Additionally, nitric oxide (NO) is produced which increases blood flow and oxygenation to tissues.
Usually red light bed sessions are 20 minutes for each side (front and back), but with Spectra red light therapy which is medical grade, the session time is reduced to 12-16 minutes total, because the apparatus is so much more efficient.
Dr. Marra will personalize your light therapy sessions so that you can achieve the most beneficial results in the shortest amount of time. The benefits of red light bed therapy include:
- increased ATP production
- increased cellular energy
- increased vasodilation from increased nitric oxide release
- increased blood flow
- increased lymphatic drainage
- increased tissue oxygenation
- decreased inflammation
- decreased neuroinflammation
- stimulates tissue growth and repair
- stimulates new brain synapse connections
- stimulates neuroplasticity and neuroregeneration
- promotes better sleep
Contraindications for the red light bed are:
- active cancer
- pregnancy
- epilepsy
- active skin infections
- photosensitivity
